For wrinkle correction and overall skin improvement, Dr. Polacek performs phototherapy using LED photomodulation at her practice near Providence, Rhode Island. IPL or photofacial are other well known forms of phototherapy, but they differ from photomodulation in that they cause thermal injury to induce changes in the tissue. LED photomodulation treatments are for patients who want a simple, pain-free way to reduce or eliminate facial wrinkles.
If you would like to learn more about phototherapy, request a consultation at the Polacek Center for Plastic Surgery. Or phone us at (401) 331-0202 and we will discuss the best approach to address your specific needs.
At the Polacek Center for Plastic Surgery we employ the GentleWaves® technology of phototherapy or photo-rejuvenation. The GentleWaves LED Laser is a light emitting diode laser system that uses variable wavelengths of light for skin rejuvenation. It is used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, freckles, sunspots, scars, and redness.
LEDs offer a totally natural, non-ablative method for skin rejuvenation. The light from the LEDs interacts with cells and stimulates them to produce new collagen and elastin. The GentleWaves system is coded in such a way to stimulate specific cell changes. By manipulating the codes, different treatments can be designed for specific applications.
Meet Dr. Polacek
A board-certified plastic surgeon and esteemed member of the medical community, Dr. Polacek will be involved in every step of your cosmetic care.
Typically treatments are spread over several weeks or a few months. The number of treatments and the treatment times will vary depending on the problem being treated, the amount of surface area treated and the area treated. Since the results are progressive, you will notice more correction after the first few treatments. Then treatment intervals can be expanded to three to six months. Since the skin continues to age, maintenance treatments will be required.
The 30 minute treatments are very relaxing as the delivery of the LED energy to the skin is fast and comfortable. The energy generated by the LEDs is cool and gentle enough to treat all ethnic skin types and can be administered alone or in conjunction with other treatments. We have found it to be highly complementary with other skin treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers such as Restylane® and Perlane®.
During your consultation, Dr. Lori Polacek will review your treatment options, including pros and cons of phototherapy treatments, potential risks and complications, recovery course, pre and post treatment instructions, and aesthetic outcomes.
