Choosing Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation may be a good choice for you if:

Dr. Polacek is trained and experienced in leading-edge techniques for breast augmentation. Also known as augmentation mammoplasty, the breast enlargement procedure involves the use of implants to increase or restore breast volume. Implants also may be used to reconstruct a breast after mastectomy or injury.

Many breast augmentation patients want to increase breast volume lost through pregnancy and breastfeeding. For these women, breast drooping or sagging may also be a concern, so many choose to combine their breast augmentation with a breast lift for optimal results.

A board-certified plastic surgeon and esteemed member of the medical community, Dr. Polacek will be involved in every step of your cosmetic care.

The Breast Augmentation Procedure

Prior to surgery, women will need to make several important decisions: type of implant (saline or silicone gel), size of implant, location of surgical incision, and more. Dr. Polacek will guide you through your options, listening carefully to your concerns and priorities so that you feel completely confident on the day of surgery.

After you are prepped for surgery and anesthesia is administered, Dr. Polacek will make an incision in the placement of your choice: the breast crease or around the areola. After the incisions have been made, the breast implants are placed either beneath the chest muscle or directly behind breast tissue to create the desired volume.

Recovery and Results

To ensure optimal results, Dr. Polacek and her team will provide thorough aftercare instructions for a safe and effective recovery. While natural adjustments will continue to occur during the months following your surgery as the implants "settle" into place, normal activity can be resumed within 1 to 2 weeks for most patients. Exercise may be postponed for up to 6 weeks following your procedure. There will be some swelling and discomfort, but these will fade quickly, and you will soon be enjoying your beautiful, balanced results.
