Choosing Liposuction

Good candidates for liposuction include patients who are close to their ideal body weight but still find they have excess fat or desire contouring in any of the following areas:

  • Upper Arms
  • Inner and Outer Thighs
  • Cheeks and Neck
  • Hips and Buttocks
  • Knees
  • Abdomen and Waist

Liposuction should not be considered a substitute for weight loss. Rather, the best results are obtained when it is undertaken in conjunction with a commitment to a healthy diet and a regular routine of exercise.

Liposuction Procedure & Recovery

Dr. Polacek uses the tumescent technique with either traditional or ultrasonic assisted liposuction. In most procedures, small incisions are made near the areas to be suctioned. A cannula is inserted through the incision and is moved back and forth to vacuum the fat from the area. Liposuction can be performed on several areas of the body at the same time, and, in certain cases, can be done in conjunction with other aesthetic procedures such as breast enhancement procedure or breast reduction.

Because of individual physical factors, not everyone will achieve the same results from liposuction. During your consultation Dr. Polacek will take into consideration your unique anatomy and other considerations. She will carefully review your treatment options for liposuction, including pros and cons of each procedure, potential risks and complications, recovery course, pre and post operative instructions, and aesthetic outcomes.
